Biosketch
Pinckney is an adjunct faculty member teaching courses such as Intimate Partner Violence and Gender, Race, and Crime. Her love for teaching and mentoring students is supported by her extensive education and expertise. Formally a Doctoral Teaching Fellow, Pinckney graduated in 2014 from UMASS Lowell with her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice and Criminology. Her dissertation focuses on police responsiveness during incidents of intimate partner violence given the presence or absence of a child. The dissertation explored race (White couples vs. Black couples) and gender (within the context of race) disparities. Continuing her UML education, she is completing her second masters in Security Studies (Homeland Defense). Pinckney is the Program Director of the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies departments at Newbury College, an author, an advocate, and mother or two sons. She is from Newark, NJ.
