This page provides users with step by step instructions on how to create and manage passwords using myPassword. myPassword is UMass Lowell's self-service password management tool. This allows users to securely manage their own secure access and campus email account password.

For Undergraduate Day School Students: If you have been accepted to UMass Lowell (UML) but have not made your enrollment deposit, your UML email account / password will ONLY give you access to SiS Student Center and the Financial Aid Portal.

For Graduate Students: If you have been accepted to UMass Lowell but have not made your enrollment deposit or declared your intent to enroll your UML email account / password will ONLY give you access to the Financial Aid Portal.


Using myPassword

Before navigating to the UML MyPassword website, please review the password setup information below.

Step 1: When using myPassword for the first time, users should click on Change my Password to create a new password.

Note: Your default password is in the following format: The word Riverhawk (uppercase for the first "R" only) followed by your Student ID (ex: Riverhawk12345678, where the 8 digits are your Student ID).

Step 2: On the next screen, you will need to verify a Captcha image to proceed.

Step 3: On the next screen, enter your full UMass Lowell email address followed by your default password, and then click the Logon button.

Step 4: Answer the three security questions that appear and then click the Submit button to create your profile.

Choose questions that are easy to remember, but difficult to guess.

Step 5: Create a new password.

Password Requirements

  1. Passwords must have a minimum length of 16 characters
  2. Passwords must include at least 3 out of the following 4:
    1. Contain at least 1 upper-case character
    2. Contain at least 1 lower-case character
    3. Contain at least 1 special character `~!@#$%^&*()_+-={}|[]\:;'<>?,./
    4. Contain at least 1 numeric character
  3. Passwords cannot contain all or part of your name
  4. Passwords cannot be reused

If you are a UMass Lowell student, your email account/password will give you access to various UMass Lowell systems, including email, SIS Self Service, the Wireless Network, HR Direct, myAlert, MyParking, VPN, the Online Housing Gateway and the Echo360 Lecture Capture System.
