Dr. Hansen joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty in Fall 2011. His previous research efforts include 3D viscoelastic filament micropatterning and synthetic microvasculature for self-healing and thermal regulation applications. He conducts experimental work in the areas of damage remediation using self-healing materials, microscale patterning of multifunctional and composite materials, and structures with embedded microvascular networks. In the classroom, he instructs the graduate Composite Materials course (22.596).
