Mr. Huckabee’s professional career has been spent entirely in the field of highway and bridge engineering.  His nine years with the Massachusetts Highway Department (now Mass DOT) gave him experience at both the District and Headquarters level and generated a complete understanding of all stages of the project development and construction process, both in the office and in the field.

At Gill Engineering, Mr. Huckabee is responsible for technical oversight of bridge design projects, including structural analysis and preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for bidding.  Other responsibilities include structural evaluations for load carrying capacity of existing bridges, development and design of emergency repairs to bridges and bridge inspections.

Mr. Huckabee was a major contributor in the development of MDOT’s design standards for integral abutment bridges.  He presented a paper on the methodology and structural basis used by MDOT for the plastic design of integral abutment piles at the 2005 FHWA Seminar on Integral and Jointless Bridges in Baltimore, MD.
