The purpose of the Teacher Leader Graduate Certificate program is to foster professional learning among k-12 teachers as accomplished practitioners and leaders while they continue to serve in an instructional capacity. Using the tasks necessary to be a candidate for National Board Certification, teachers will engage in rigorous analysis of standards based teaching practice within a supportive learning community. Completing the Teacher Leader Graduate Certificate will involve the documentation and critical evaluation of one’s best practice aligned with the National Board’s standards of accomplished teaching and the development of knowledge and skills necessary for effective engagement and leadership. Teachers in the program have the option of submitting their work for the certificate to become a candidate for National Board Certification. With Race to the Top funds, teachers are likely to have the $2500 fee for NBPTS waived.
