Nicole Ratos Enerson received her Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting from Cornell University, where she studied on a full fellowship. While in graduate school she was awarded the Hartell Award, the Charles Baskerville painting award, and a grant from the Cornell Council for the Arts. After graduation Ratos Enerson served as a Lecturer of Art at Cornell, and later as Adjunct Faculty at Tufts University in affiliation with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. In addition to currently teaching at University of Massachusetts at Lowell, she is also pre-college faculty at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Ratos Enerson has shown her work through out the northeast and nationally. She was recently included in shows at the Mills Gallery in Boston, Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Woods Gerry Gallery at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, and Gallery 119, in Lowell, MA. Ratos Enerson's artwork explores the condition of the body, as well as the art object, as peculiar "things" that hold meaning issuing from, but above and beyond, their physicality. Her artwork encompasses several media, including painting, drawing, and video, and is connected through common aesthetic and conceptual frameworks.
