Tickets for Undergraduate Ceremony
For the fourth year in a row, we are projecting the largest graduating class in UMass Lowell history. Because of this growth, seating has become extremely limited for both graduates and their guests at the Tsongas Center, raising concerns about comfort and safety for everyone.
Therefore, we will make the following adjustments to try to address these concerns while doing what we can to make this day an enjoyable one for graduates and their guests:
- Commencement Ceremonies: This year, we will hold two Commencement Ceremonies, one for undergraduates and one for graduate students. The Undergraduate ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, followed by a Graduate ceremony at 3 p.m. the same day. Both ceremonies will take place at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.
- Tickets for the Undergraduate Ceremony: Graduates themselves do not need tickets, but their guests do. Each graduate planning to participate in the ceremony will be given up to four guest tickets, which will be collected at the entrance. (See "Requesting Additional Tickets" below if you would like more.)
Guests with tickets should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the ceremony (9 a.m.). We cannot guarantee late arrivals will be seated inside. We anticipate a full house.
Tickets can be picked up at the Cap & Gown Countdown on April 18 at the Tsongas Center and will continue to be available at the Tsongas Center Box Office until May 17 or until they are gone. You are not guaranteed tickets after this time. Additional instructions and updates will be emailed to you.
- Requesting Additional Tickets: If you would like additional tickets, you may request up to two additional tickets. To request additional tickets, email Commencement_Tickets@uml.edu no later than May 17 with the number of tickets you would like and the email address we should use to notify you. Additional tickets are not guaranteed and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will receive email notification on Monday, May 21 if tickets are available. These tickets will be available for pick up at the Tsongas Box Office May 22-25. Students may also ask fellow graduates if they have extra tickets available.
- Additional Seating: If your guests are late arrivals or do not have tickets, an overflow tent adjacent to the Tsongas Center will be equipped with a live video and audio feed of the ceremony. Seating in this location will also be limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Video Streaming: As in years past, the Commencement Ceremony will be streamed on the web in its entirety for those with internet access. A web link will be provided on the Commencement website in the week before the ceremony.
If you have questions, please email Commencement@uml.edu.
