Am I eligible to participate in Commencement Exercises?
The following students are eligible to participate in graduation activities:
(a) graduate students who have completed degree requirements during the Summer 2007 semester and who have not attended the previous commencement exercise;
(b) undergraduate and graduate students who have completed degree requirements during the Fall 2007 semester and who have not attended the previous commencement exercise;
(c) undergraduate and graduate students who expect to complete degree requirements during the Spring 2008 semester; and
(d) undergraduate students who anticipate completion of degree requirements by the end of the Summer 2008 session.
The names of students who fail to complete degree requirements as planned will not be listed again in subsequent graduation publications.
How do I get financial clearance?
The Business Office will not clear students for graduation who fail to discharge all tuition obligations to the University.
Other financial obligations that will exclude a student from receiving his/her diploma are outstanding parking tickets and library fees. Students may participate in graduation; however, diplomas will be awarded only to students who have been financially cleared.
How do I file for Commencement?
In order to ensure that all degree requirements have been satisfied, undergraduate students who anticipate completion of degree requirements in either the Spring or Summer semester are required to file a "Declaration of Intent to Graduate "(DIG)" form according to established deadlines of the college in which they are degree candidates. If you do not know the deadline date, please contact your college dean’s office immediately.Students who have failed to file by this deadline are advised of the following:
(1) they might not be certified by college deans as having completed degree requirements in time to have their diplomas prepared for the Commencement ceremony and;
(2) their names may not be printed in the 2008 Commencement booklet.
Continuing Studies students should schedule a graduation interview to review their program worksheet with a faculty coordinator. To schedule an interview, a CSCE student should call Continuing Studies & Corporate Education at (978) 934-2474.
