Message from the President

November 25, 2008

Dear Eta Omega Chapter Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Eta Omega Chapter and its website. I am pleased to serve our chapter over the next two years (2008-2009) as your President. Our Past President Dr. Kelly Fisher stated in her President's Welcome, “Each new President shall bring with them their unique perspective on how they shall bring the chapter into the future.” I am energized and motivated to continue the great work that has been done by my predecessors.

In addition to this, I want to focus on increasing the involvement of our members in all aspects of our chapter. We all know that if we increase the number of active members in our chapter that the work to be done will be less burdensome as it is shared across more people. I do hope you will consider getting involved with our chapter, whether it be through your attendance at our events and board meetings, volunteering to help on one of our committees, or by just keeping in touch with your ideas about how the chapter can best serve your needs. You can do this via e-mail: lisa_abdallah@uml.edu or phone: 978-034-4432.

I look forward to hearing from you. My goal as your President is to continue to provide chapter members with frequent communications using the national chapter monthly member e-newsletters, as well as by providing this updated website of resources.

Since I became President I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the National Chapter Leadership conference, where they presented VISION 2020 Leading Globally Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). These are STTI’s strategic goals for 2020 and they include being more global, building our knowledge resources, fostering leadership development, and increasing the organizations focus on service.

As the President of the Eta Omega Chapter I will work at keeping our chapter's goals in line with the National Chapter's strategic plan; therefore we shall continue to support educational programs and social events for our chapter that build our knowledge and foster leadership. In addition, I would like to see our chapter focus on service, and we are currently supporting The Nursing Students without Borders who will be traveling to Ghana in January 2009, hoping to assist in collecting donations and supplies that they need. We also will be looking into other service projects that the chapter may participate in.

I look forward to hearing from you about ways that we can further the mission for our chapter. It is an honor to serve you as your President.

Respectfully,

 Signature
