Combined BS-MS Program for Non-RN Students


Students in the baccalaureate program in nursing may apply for admission to the combined bachelor’s/master’s degree in nursing at the end of their junior year or the beginning of their senior year.

Admission requirements to the Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Program for Non-RN Students include:

  • an undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or better at the end of their junior year
  • introductory course in descriptive and inferential statistics
  • interview with graduate nursing faculty with positive interviewer recommendations
  • three letters of recommendation, two must be from baccalaureate nursing faculty
  • members and one from a supervisor of the applicant in a health care agency
  • experience working in a nursing related role
  • computer literacy
  • goal statement
  • official transcripts
  • GRE (not required)

Acceptance to the MS program will be made pending successful completion of the baccalaureate program with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and passing of the NCLEX exam.

Students in the combined bachelor’s/master’s program are expected to work part-time as an RN upon passing the NCLEX examination and upon entry to the MS Program.

Up to six credits of graduate (500 or higher) courses may be used by a student in the bachelor’s/master’s degree program for both graduate and undergraduate degrees.

Applications for the master’s program may be obtained through the Graduate Admissions office in Dugan Hall.
