News & EventsCommencement Weekend, May 30-31, 2008 Women To Watch! *************************************************** SOS program 2007, Summer of Science, gets off to a great start.
In order to attract more students to the sciences and engineering, UMass Lowell funds high school seniors in the summer before their start at UML -- students who will be science, math, computer science, or engineering majors. The program is designed to give the recent high school graduates the opportunity to spend their summers on campus rather than being employed in summer jobs not related to their academic careers. The students will be involved in projects ranging from research to developing new laboratory exercises for courses this fall. The seven SOS students are shown at a welcoming breakfast in the Dean of Science's conference room.
