About the College

The mission of the UMass Lowell College of Arts and Sciences is to foster critical and creative thinking for future solutions to environmental, economic and human problems, while helping students to develop the capacity to respond to a changing world. Faculty members emphasize quality instruction, research and creative activity, as well as service to the community. Through activities such as applied research and student internships, in which students and faculty use their expertise in the community, the college serves the economic and social needs of the Merrimack Valley region and beyond.
