UMass Lowell has one of the most distinguished music programs in the region and across the country.  Students looking for a topic-notch academic experience that will complement an exemplary music education will find all that and more in the department.

The Music Department's faculty is composed of talented musicians who also pride themselves as music educators.  The curriculum is extremely diversified, allowing students to specialize in performance, the business of the music industry, preparation for teaching music and sound recording technology (SRT).  Sound recording technology is one of the University's signature programs.

The admission requirements for the department are rigorous and reflect the the high standards expected from students. Admission to the music programs involves several steps, including an audition process and examination.  Retention in the music program also requires a unique set of conditions, such as involvement in performance groups and recitals.
