Audio Engineering Society (AES): Sound Recording Technology Students
UML was one of the first universities in the country to have a student chapter of the AES. Since the chapter is student-run, its activities directly reflect student interests. Common activities are guest lectures, manufacturers' demonstrations, field trips, and faculty and student presentations. In recent years, students have traveled to San Francisco and New York City for the AES International Convention.

Music and Entertainment Industry Student Associations (MEISA): Music Business Students
MEISA is an educational forum organized to allow students to participate in professional activities by promoting interaction between its members and industry professionals. Activities include field trips to recording studios, CD mastering facilities, and television studios; educational seminars on motivational sales techniques, MIDI technology and trade conventions; and guest speakers such as industry professionals, concert promoters and theme park entertainment coordinators. The UMass Lowell chapter recently traveled to Anaheim, Calif., Toronto, Canada, and New York City.

MENC (Massachusetts Music Educators National Conference): Music Education Students
UMass Lowell boasts one of the biggest college chapters of this organization in New England. Students are very active at local, state and national levels. Throughout the year, the chapter hosts bands and choirs, guest presenters and artists, conducts educational seminars focusing on teaching strategies and hosts other chapters.
