Bio Sketch

Bassoon studies with Sherman Walt, Matthew Ruggiero, Stephen Maxym and Louis Skinner (reed-making).
As a freelance bassoonist, Ms. Bedford has played with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the Worcester Orchestra, the New Hampshire Symphony, the Springfield Symphony, the Albany Symphony, the Portland Symphony, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic.  She has also been a substitute player for the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops, and , playing period bassoons, she has been a member of the Handel & Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, and the Mostly Mozart Festival (New York) period instrument orchestra.  She has recorded for Golden Crest, CRI, L’Oiseau and Titanic records, including a solo recording of music for baroque bassoon.

Ms. Bedford has been a recitalist at Jordan Hall, the Gardner Museum, and the Fogg Museum and a three time fellowship recipient to the Tanglewood Institute.  In addition to UML, she teaches at the Longy School of Music, the Powers Music School and the All-Newton Music School.  She has also taught bassoon at Brown University and the woodwind methods courses at New England Conservatory.
