Bonnie Anderson was trained at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, The Juilliard School, Michigan State University and Boston University.
Pianist Bonnie Anderson is renowned for her expressive and powerful interpretations of Chopin, Brahms and Ravel. The Grand Rapids Press noted that “Anderson’s gifts point to the poetic...the Brahms Sonata swept the listener away in ecstasy.” Ms. Anderson’s pianism has been enriched by her many years in the middle of orchestral woodwind sections.
Ms. Anderson first appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as flute soloist in Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto at age 14. A few months later she performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Boston Pops. As both pianist and flutist she has performed in the United States, France, Germany and South America. Ms. Anderson has also performed as piano soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Symphony, Bach Society of Orchestra of Harvard University, Northern Illinois Philharmonic and Bach Festival Chamber Orchestra.
Collaborating with artists from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Ms. Anderson has performed in Alice Tully Hall, Jordan Hall, the Austrian Embassy, and numerous universities around the country. Ms. Anderson is a frequent guest artist with the Walden Chamber Players and the Art of Music Chamber Players. She recently performed with Branford Marsalis, Nurit Bar-Josef, Harumi Rhodes, Christof Huebner and Richard Sebring.
Bonnie Anderson was trained at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, The Juilliard School, Michigan State University and Boston University. Her teachers include Wha Kyung Byun, Russell Sherman, Deborah Moriarty and Benjamin Pasternack. She has played in master classes for Leon Fleisher, Yo-Yo Ma, Dominique Merlet and Roy Howat.
Ms. Anderson is currently Adjunct Professor of piano and Head of the Keyboard Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. As a dedicated teacher she particularly enjoys giving master classes around the Boston area. Ms. Anderson’s recording of piano music by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Ravel and Rorem is available at performances and master classes. Recent performances include the Kalliroscope Gallery Series with soprano Marguerite Krull, The Kreutzer Sonata at the Merrimack Repertory Theater, the Orchestra of Indian Hill and the Art of Music Chamber Players.
