Bio Sketch

Professor Michael E. Jones received his doctorate in law (J.D.) degree from the University of Miami, Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and undergraduate (B.A.) degree from Denison University. He most recently wrote, Sports Law, the leading undergraduate text in its field. He also edited the acclaimed book, Current Issues in Professional Sports. In 2006 he was the subject of a retrospective on his creative fine art activities: Michael E. Jones: Profiles of a Painter. He was invited to present his research findings on gender discrimination in college athletics to The President's Commission on the Study of Title IX. He is a past president of the North Atlantic Business Law Association and is a former chairperson of the American Bar Association's Forum Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law, International Division. He serves as corporate secretary and trustee of The New Hampshire Institute of Art. Professor Jones is a recognized expert in the fields of intellectual property, internet law, and sports, entertainment and art law. For many years he has served as chairperson of a dispute resolution panel for a national governing body of the U.S. Olympic Committee. For the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games he was selected to create an artistic image for display. He is a former visiting scholar at the University of London. For nearly twenty years he has served as a part-time district court judge.
