
Prof. Patrick Young presented two scholarly papers in Fall 2006. The first, entitled “Opening up Her Secrets: Gender and Authenticity in Tourist Brittany,” and part of a panel on rural life in France, was given at the Western French History Conference in California in Oct. 2006. The second, also in October 2006, was a talk at the UML Faculty Salon entitled “A Sustainable Past? Tourism, Preservation, and Loss in Brittany.”
Prof. Young’s article “Of Pardons, Loss, and longing: Tourism and Cultural Value inBrittany, 1900-1930” will appear in the Spring 2007 edition of French Historical Studies, the preeminent journal of French scholarship in North America.
