Samuel Sawan

Dr. Sawan is currently a Professor of Polymer Science and Plastics Engineering in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. During his 29 year academic career at the University, his research has primarily been concerned with biomaterials, drug delivery and surface chemistry. Additionally his research has included contributions in green chemistry and novel materials for electronic applications. He has authored over 100 publications and patents and has maintained a well funded research group and has graduated over 30 doctoral students. He has broadly consulted with many companies and even served a stint as Department Head of Chemistry from which numerous wounds are still evident.
