My laboratory research concerns ecological and evolutionary functional genomics and uses Drosophila as a model system. We are currently focused on two major projects. First, we are studying the genetics of stress resistance, with a particular emphasis on the neuroprotection of locomotor performance. Another major thrust in the lab examines the population genomics of polyglutamine repeat expansion in Drosophila, a model for neurodegenerative disease, and the role of thermal stress and molecular chaperone expression in selection on repeat length. More broadly, my interests concern molecular and phenotypic evolution, bioinformatics, and ecological genetics.
