Prospective StudentsLetter from the Chair
David Kriebel, Chair Since our founding in 1987, we’ve graduated more than 300 professionals working around the globe in diverse and rewarding careers in the health, safety and environment fields. Our master’s and doctoral degree programs in five different concentrations prepare our graduates for professional careers improving the environment and protecting health in businesses, local state and national government, academia, unions and other advocacy organizations. To get some idea of the range of great work that our alumni is doing, check out our alumni snapshots (pdf). We recently reduced our master’s degree requirements from 45 credits down to 36 – allowing more flexibility for those who want a shorter time in residency, or to build customized programs with dual majors. We also now offer accelerated bachelor’s/master’s programs with several different undergraduate programs. We welcome part-time students with full-time careers; core courses are offered in the evening, and many programs can be completed almost entirely with evening courses. Full time students are eligible for several types of financial aid including federally-funded traineeships that pay a stipend and full tuition and fees (for U.S. citizens and permanent residents). Our doctoral program prepares researchers with an interdisciplinary perspective on solving health, safety and environmental problems. Doctoral students work closely with our internationally-recognized faculty and are in demand after graduation as professors, industry researchers and policy experts world-wide. The faculty maintains a large research portfolio, currently about $4 million per year, which provides many opportunities for research training and financial support. Thanks for your interest in our department, and enjoy your visit! David Kriebel David Kriebel, Sc.D.
