Bio Sketch

Dr. Quinn is an industrial hygienist with research interests in occupational and environmental exposure assessment, sustainable production, and work environment policy and practice. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Brown University, two master of science degrees from the Harvard University School of Public Health (one in physiology, occupational health and the second in industrial hygiene), and a doctorate in industrial hygiene from the Department of Work Environment, College of Engineering, University of Massachusetts Lowell. She completed a year-long fellowship in occupational cancer epidemiology in Florence, Italy from the Italian Association for Research on Cancer. Before joining the faculty in the Department of Work Environment, she worked in occupational and environmental health research and practice with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Harvard University, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the Center for the Study and Prevention of Cancer, Florence, Italy. Dr. Quinn is certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. Dr. Quinn is a co-founder of the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production (www.sustainableproduction.org) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a member of the LCSP Director's Council. She directs the Sustainable Hospitals Project (www.sustainablehospitals.org), initiated in 1996, to conduct research and provide technical support to assist members of the health care community to select and implement more environmentally sound, healthy and safe materials, products, and work practices.
