The Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics is designed to prepare health care professionals to better position themselves in the ever-changing Health Information Technology arena. The rapid emergence of new and evolving technologies requires health care professionals who understand how these technologies will impact their sphere of practice, and position them to be an integral part of the decision making process.
Currently the University of Massachusetts Lowell is the only school in the New England area that is offering health informatics at the graduate level.

Career Opportunities
Upon completion of this certificate you will be positioned to assume roles as health informaticist within your area of health care expertise. Job opportunities include, but are not limited to: Chief Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, Systems/applications analyst, Information technology department director, to name a few.
Admission and Graduation Requirements
All students must hold a baccalaureate degree in a health care, or related, field from an accredited four year institution. Students must complete an application for admission to the certificate program and be accepted into the program by the Department of Health and Clinical Sciences. Basic computer skills are assumed. Courses must be completed within a five year period with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and with no more than one course with a grade of BC or C.
