Educational Background
Professor Chen holds a B.S. in Management Science from National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan, an M.B.A. from Texas Tech University, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from University of Texas at Arlington. He holds permanent memberships of many honor societies such as Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Iota Delta, Omega Rho, and Phi Beta Delta.
Scholarly Interests
Dr. Chen has published numerous articles in scholarly journals such as Information & Management, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Project Management, Comparative Technology Transfer and Society, Journal of International Technology and Information Management, and International Journal of Innovation and Learning. He has presented his research at various national and international conferences and has had many of his papers published in refereed conference proceedings.
In recognition of his scholarly work, Professor Chen received an Outstanding Research Award from the National Sciences Council in Taiwan and the Irwin Distinguished Paper Award at the Southwestern Federation of Administrative Disciplines (SWFAD) conference. His recent research paper in knowledge management has received the Best Paper Award at the 2005 International Conference on Accounting and Information Technology.
Bio Sketch
Dr. Edward T. Chen is Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the Management Department. Professor Chen has received Outstanding Teacher Recognition from the Student Government Association of UMass Lowell, the Excellent Teaching Award from the College of Management of National Chung Cheng University, and the Best Graduate Teaching Performance Recognition from the College of Business Administration of University of Texas at Arlington.
Professor Chen is a regular member of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), Northeast DSI (NEDSI), Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFROMS), International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS), International Information Management Association (IIMA), and International Chinese Information Systems Association (ICISA). He has been serving as vice-president, journal editor-in-chief, board director, editorial reviewer, track chair, session chair, and ad hoc reviewer of these professional associations.
