Educational Background

Professor Mehta has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Industrial Engineering.

Scholarly Interests

Professor Mehta has active research interests in CRM, Technology and Global Sourcing. He is presently working with Professors Freedman and Motiwalla on an on-going research on CRM, Management and Outsourcing. An initial version of the paper titled “Off-shore Outsourcing of Customer Facing Functions: What Moderates the  Effectiveness of This Strategy?” was presented to International Conference of Business, Economics and Management Disciplines in August 2005. An advanced version of the paper will be submitted to leading Management Journals.

Bio Sketch

Prof Mehta is a visiting faculty at UML College of Management, teaching Strategic Management, Strategic Global Sourcing and Management Information Systems. He has been associated with the college since 1998, when he joined its Advisory Board. He has been teaching in COM since 2001.

Prof Mehta comes to academics after spending 40 years in business and industry. He has held executive positions with major worldwide IT systems vendors and founded and operated businesses. He founded Tariva, Inc., in 1998, an eCRM software company. In 2005, he transferred Tariva product IPs to a company in California. Prior to Tariva, Mr. Mehta founded Mehta Corporation in 1992, a software development and services company, which he sold in 1998.

Prior to starting own businesses, Mr. Mehta held executive positions with Groupe Bull (France) and Honeywell Information Systems. He was Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning with Groupe Bull from 1987 to 1991. In this capacity he dealt with all major strategic initiatives, developed strategic plans, interacted with Corporate Executive management and the Board.
