Educational Background

Dr. Carter holds a DBA from Kent State University, and MBA from the University of Akron, and a BS from Penn State University.

Scholarly Interests

Professor Carter's research interests are twofold: accounting education and accounting practice. Dr. Carter is a pioneer in the development of computer materials in accounting education. His work has resulted in books and computer programs published by both Houghton Mifflin Company and MacGraw Hill/Irwin Companies. His published materials have been used by over 400,000 students in the United States and internationally. Professor Carter's accounting practice research concerns current topics related to his teaching. His research has been published in journals such as the Accounting Historians Journal, Atlantic Economic, Interface, Massachusetts CPA Review, National Public Accountant, Ohio CPA, Oil, Gas and Energy Quarterly, and Quarterly Review of Economics and Business.

Bio Sketch

C.P. (Monty) Carter is a professor of accounting in the College of Management. He is responsible for teaching the first accounting course (60.201- Accounting/Financial), which is required by College of Management students. During the last fifteen years, over 5,000 students were enrolled in his classes.

Professor Carter's service to the University has included membership on numerous University, College, and Accounting Department committees, and chairmanship of the Accounting Department for six years.

Professor Carter has business experience with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He also consulted with small businesses in establishing financial and cost accounting systems.
