Research Interests:

  • Biological applications utilizing the detection techniques of High Performance Liquid Chromatography with Linear Photodiode Array, UV or Fluorescent Detection and Capillary Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization and Nitrogen Phosphorous Detection
  • Methods developed for the quantitation of antioxidants, fatty acids, drugs and bile acids in blood, urine, feces and food

Previous Research:

  • Analyses of total and free thyroid hormones by capillary GC/ECD
  • Oxidative DNA damage monitoring by ultra trace techniques
  • Chromatographic characteristics of alkyl bonded silica surfaces

Current Research:

  • Dietary and drug effects on bioavailability and homeostasis of Vitamin E, A and carotinoids
  • Effect of environment and disease (smokingand cancer) on in vivo antioxidant status and lipoprotein susceptibility to oxidation
  • Alterations in bile acid metabolism generated by diet and drug manipulation
  • Establishment of plasma biomarkers indicating nutrient exposure
  • Improving rice bran oil processing steps to enhance enrichment of cholesterol lowering micronutrients
