Annual NEPTA Forum

What is NEPTA?

In the early 1990’s, a group of tutoring professionals gathered to talk about their academic support programs and the important work that was taking place at various campus learning centers across New England.  There were many occasions for program directors to meet with peers through membership in developmental education associations and learning assistance organizations, but few opportunities for peer tutors to benefit from the same type of interaction.  In order to provide a vehicle for university level tutors to connect with and benefit from the experiences of their peers at other institutions, the concept of a conference by tutors and for tutors was developed.  The first NEPTA (New England Peer Tutor Association) Forum at Bristol Community College in spring of 1993 was designed to offer an opportunity for peer tutors from two and four year institutions to gather and share their skills and expertise.
