Helping students make the grade(s) in college
The Centers for Learning and Academic Support Services (CLASS) was established in 1986 to improve the quality of the student academic experience at UMass Lowell. CLASS has received national attention for its innovative approach to academic support services and for its unique partnership with the UMass Lowell faculty.
Making the transition from high school to college can be a challenge for many students. That is why CLASS has developed programs to help students adjust to the demands of heavier course loads and more difficult classes. CLASS gives students the support they need from tutoring to computer workshops to study skills workshops to major and career planning. Each CLASS program sets its own goals and objectives and evaluates its effectiveness annually in an effort to continuously improve the quality of services offered. Program development is guided by the faculty who determines funding priorities and studies program effectiveness.
