UMass Lowell Goes Division I

River Hawks athletic teams will be competing as Division I members in the America East Conference as of July 1, 2013. UMass Lowell will begin with 14 DI sports in 2013-14, but will not be eligible for postseason play while it completes the four-year NCAA reclassification. The River Hawks will be full DI members in 2017-18. 

National Champions

We’ve won 15 NCAA National Championships in school history, including men’s cross country and women's field hockey.  Our NCAA DI hockey team competes with national powerhouse programs in the Hockey East Association. Check out our Athletics website.

We offer 17 varsity teams, dozens of different club sports and the most extensive outdoor adventure program in the UMass system. Enjoy day outings, overnight trips and adventure classes as part of your UMass Lowell experience.
