Proximity Program OverviewThe University of Massachusetts Lowell is pleased to announce its new Proximity Regional Rates for undergraduate and graduate students living in Southern New Hampshire. Beginning with Fall 2008 enrollment, UMass Lowell is offering a reduced tuition rate to New Hampshire students whose hometown is within 20 miles of the campus. The reduction translates into a savings of more than $6,000 annually for undergraduates. Based on 2007-2008 tuition and fees, an out-of-state student’s cost is $20,559. If that student qualifies for Proximity Regional rates, the total tuition and fee cost would be $14,173. Both part-time and full-time graduate students will have a comparable percentage reduction in their cost per credit hour. (Note Tuition and fees are set each year. Please confirm the latest rates at the Accounts Receivable page.) This program was developed in response to the many highly-qualified Southern New Hampshire students seeking a world-class University education close to home. The new Proximity Regional Rate program is based on a provision of the New England Board of Higher Education Regional Student Program (NERSP). The proximity program does not change in any way the provisions and costs of the NERSP. Students in most majors are eligible. Participating students are eligible for on-campus housing after their first semester at UML. Please see the Proximity Fact Sheet for detailed information. Map of Qualifying Towns (pdf) | |
